Since 2011 community network activists from Guifi.net (Spain), Funkfeuer (Austria), AWMN (Greece), Wireless Belgiƫ (Belgium), Sarantaporo.gr (Greece), and Ninux (Italy) are testing experimental technologies for wireless community networks and other bottom-up broadband initiatives, including: radio and link layer, routing, transport and applications.
Community-Lab started its operation in September 2012 and is used by CONFINE experiments since February 2013. The mark of 100 nodes was reached in September 2013. The testbed is now in open access mode: experimenters have the opportunity to use the experimental facility for free, new community networks can join too.
